Allergy is defined as a kind of reaction of the body against certain situations. This is a serious health problem that should not be underestimated especially for children. Allergy, which negatively affects daily life, can be composed of many reasons. The first step to prevent allergic reactions is to prefer anti-allergic textile products. In particular, it is important to prefer anti-allergic products registered with ECARF approval.
What is ECARF?
ECARF stands for the European Center for Allergy Research, the European Allergy Research Foundation. Founded in Germany in 2003, the Foundation keeps up with non-profit donations. General objectives of the Foundation are:
- Supporting allergy research
- To inform doctors, scientists and health sector about new research results and treatment methods
- Certifying anti-allergic products and services
- To inform the media and the public about the new developments related to allergy.
ECARF also carries out researches in building, residential, home appliances, food, body and skin care, cleaning, textile, bedding and leather products.
What does the ECARF Seal stand for?
The products and services have been fully adapted to the needs of allergy sufferers. An independent advisory panel of 15 leading international scientists and technicians has developed the criteria for different product groups. They include threshold values and exclusion criteria that make an allergic reaction very unlikely. The criteria are regularly updated to reflect the latest scientific results. A product receives the Seal when it can be proved through audits or studies that the criteria have been fulfilled.
ECARF Approved Textile Products Should Be Preferred
Although the solution recommendations are listed in case of allergies, the exact solution may not be experienced unless the allergen factors and products are avoided. For this reason, you must prefer approved anti-allergic products especially for children. Although many products on the market are said to be anti-allergic, they do not comply with any of the criteria, and are sold without ECARF certification. As a consumer, you should be conscious and you should definitely call the ECARF product certification and approval stamp when purchasing products.
